Background and Accreditation

YIS was officially established in 2014 with the approval of the Hubei Education Bureau as a full-time boarding school with an independent campus. YIS is accredited by Pearson Edexcel and Cambridge Assessment International Education, delivering IGCSE and Advanced Level (AL) courses to full-time students.

YIS is a member school of Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS) and College Board. YIS admits students through an internal assessment process as well as the Senior High School Entrance Examination, Zhongkao. Because of this, it is able to attract a diverse student population from all over China.

Situated in the geographic center of China and entitled as “the hydroelectric center of the world” as well as “the dynamic heart of China”, YIS is blessed with ample resources and chances to provide a truly international education experience.

Mission Statement

The primary educational aim of YIS is to cultivate students in a challenging and innovative international environment. YIS had endeavored to help students to foster academic abilities, thinking skills, interests exploration, mental development and emotion management, physical training, talent expedition, citizenship education, community commitment and life planning.

Matriculation

YIS students attend prestigious universities around the world. 100% of our graduates pursue tertiary study, with 3/4 students attending a UK university. Among the rest, the majority go to universities in US, Australia, Hong Kong and Canada.

Class of 2019 received 3 offers from Cambridge, 14 offers from Imperial College London, 57 offers from UCL, 20 offers from The University of Hong Kong, 7 offers from University of Sydney, 10 offers from University of Melbourne.

Most graduates received at least 1 offer with top 100 positions in 2020 QS World University Ranking.
